Install DTAR Pickup

Installing the DTAR Wave-Length UST pickup.

The DTAR Wave-Length sound quality is absolutely magnificent with power to spare. That is probably why it is priced around $30-45 more than the Shadow pickup. Definitely no "quacking" with this system.

It is readily designed to be installed as an end pin jack. In this photo the red component is the preamp with jack pin attached. Prepare the end block in the same manner as the Shadow pickup installation in the Luthier's Loft page. The tailblock hole is slightly smaller. The DTAR end pin is also a strap button.

This wavelength model does not come with a volume control. It comes with a converter/battery pack that many guitar players velcro stick to the exterior.
In this baritone uke I decided to stick the converter/battery pack in a pocket of the lower bout.

The battery pack holds two AA batteries that convert to 18 volts. The two spruce braces are designed so a phillips screw driver can go down to the red preamp component and adjust the treble and bass. That's why I have the preamp  installed parallel to the sides so the adjustment screws face the battery box. Adjustment is not necessary since the factory settings are more than adequate. But, there are some players who have different preferences. This is an all koa baritone. .
